Meet the Maker
My name is Zsófia Princz, and I create handcrafted ceramic lighting from my studio in Budapest, Hungary.
Before becoming a ceramic artist, I worked as an art historian and arts manager, experiencing the creative world from a different perspective. While I spent years surrounded by artists and works of art, I never imagined that one day I would become a maker myself.
Princz Ceramics began with a simple search for the perfect lamp.
I had a very specific vision in mind, but after months of searching, I couldn't find the piece I imagined. So I decided to make it myself.
I enrolled in a ceramics workshop and immediately fell in love with clay. There was something magical about transforming a simple lump of earth into an object that could become part of someone's everyday life.
What began as a personal project gradually became a passion and eventually grew into Princz Ceramics.
Today, every lamp is designed, shaped, glazed, fired, and assembled by hand in my Budapest studio. I personally select every detail, from the ceramic form to the textile cables, fittings, and finishing touches.
I enjoy experimenting with glazes, textures, colours, and forms, allowing each design to develop its own personality. No two lamps are ever exactly alike, and that individuality is something I cherish.
I believe that the objects we live with matter.
A lamp is more than a source of light. It creates atmosphere, shapes a room, and becomes part of everyday rituals and memories.
My hope is that these lamps bring warmth, character, and a sense of calm into the homes they become part of.

My aim is to create timeless pieces that bring warmth and individuality into a space, while remaining beautiful and relevant for years to come.
Handmade, One Piece at a Time
Every lamp is individually handcrafted in my studio in Budapest.
From the initial design and shaping of the clay to glazing, firing, and final assembly, each stage of the process is completed by hand. Every detail is carefully considered, from the ceramic form and surface finish to the textile cable and fittings.
Because each lamp is made by hand, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. These subtle variations are part of their character and a reflection of the making process.
Designed for Everyday Living
Princz Ceramics lamps are created to be both functional and expressive.
The forms, textures, and colours are thoughtfully developed to complement a variety of interiors while maintaining a distinctive identity of their own. Rather than following short-lived trends, I focus on creating pieces with a sense of permanence — objects that feel at home in a space today and for many years to come.
Each lamp is designed not only to illuminate a room, but to become a meaningful part of it.
